Fall is Here
We had a great summer and Gainesville is finally cooling off a bit. Moorea swam at least once a day this summer (and sometimes two or three times). By the end of the summer she could tread water, dive to the bottom of the pool, and swim the length of the pool. Yes, it was a pain to get the house remodeled, but it was worth it.
The summer was dotted by a few trips here and there. I took Moorea to D.C. with me twice and she had a great time with her cousins and her Nana and Papa. I also got to see a good friend in Long Island in July.
Moorea does her 'homework' every night. She has made it through the upper case letters and is working on writing lower case letters and her numbers. She has been able to write her name since about June and she has also figured out how to type her name on the computer. Reading is going a bit slower and she can recognize a few 2 or 3 letter words.
Moorea has great friends at school and her best friend lives next door. They spent a lot of time together this summer at the beach, pool, museums, and playing. They capped off the summer with their first sleep over and had a blast.
Moorea performed in our church musical this summer. She memorized all the songs and most of the actors' lines. She continues to enjoy choir and recently started dance class and AWANAs at church.
The biggest news this summer was that Colin graduated. We all went to graduation and Moorea got to see her Dad walk across the stage. We are so proud of him. And, three days later, Colin got a post doc position. He is busy this semester teaching and learning about energy research.
Summer has been busy for me. I love my new kitchen so much and have slowly started to cook more often. My job is busy, but the hard work is all starting to pay off. I don't have any announcements yet, but some great things are on the horizon for work.
We have a lot to be thankful for. What a great summer!
